August Rhapsody

August 29: A Day of Celebration

I made a huge leap in technology today for I acquire myself a very nice and smart WEB CAM! -grins-
So now, you you and you can communicate with me when I am dying in China!

Insomnia is my new found best friend.
She haunts me every single night, reminding me of the time I'm left in Singapore and my presentation nightmare.
Every night, I will immerse myself in my DVDs, one episode after another.
Before long, I heard the chickens coo and it's 6am when I hit the sack.

I can't wait for China because shopping is a draw.
I don't wanna go because I miss Singapore.
But I know I have to go.
Bo-pian.

Within these few days/weeks, I've been making time out to meet happy people:

Rare Guest Appearance: Edmund!
Saw him at Bugis, dragged him to dinner with the Smurfs peeps.
I think he was traumatised at how we mercilessly grilled Kok, Janice, laughed at ... people worth laughing at!

They say, "We are just good friends."
Like real.
Now good friends, who knows about the future?
-snorts-

From L - R: "Bel.Huiyuan.Shuang" Stay Real !(exclamation mark)
We are the new super group formed! =)
Watch us take over the world by.... wearing out Stay Real! shirts!

Zhong Qiu Wan Hui: Certified Suay.
I have absolutely Z-E-R-O luck at ANY lucky draws conducted by CHS.
For 3 years, I only played the role as the one who buys the gifts, never once did I ran on stage and get a single McDonald's vouchers. -sigh-
But the best thing i got out from CHS is prolly being in the company of these few lunatics.
Thank you. =)

Sigh.
I need double dose of Happy and Hope jabs.

my bff

Introducing my "BFF" (best friend forever, we're the local version of nicole ritchie and paris hilton)
We bitch. We laugh. And then we try to kill each other. But i sure lose, because he got men under him. SHIT!

I have this habit of having a table calendar placed on my writing table, within my cornflake eyesight.
I would diligently take a pen/marker and crossed out each passing day.
I felt this was a therapeutic act as it marks the end of a day and the begin of a new day.
However, I dread this crossing out act now.

The China trip suddenly seem so near.
And January 17 seem so far. -frowns-

19 days till Nicholas and I enter our different realms of "hell".
Meet ups, all my loves!

a thousand and one

A thousand and one.
A thousand and one questions will keep ringing off in my mind.
A thousand and one fears will slowly grip and suffocate me.

Sometimes i think for a brain like mine, it is best to remain busy.
At least, it acts like morphine.
Keeps the pain away
At least, it acts like ecstacy.
Gives me the temporal escape.

Excuse my lamentations as I indulge in my escape.

chawanmushi~I indulged in happy food at Sun with Moon with Cruz and Janeal for Monday's lunch. It tasted like beancurd and took the monday blues far away.

Please meet the Obama supporter/JFK fan, all hail the King of 8 Eggs my dear nemesis Desmond! We "suan" each other like mad when we meet, it is a big wonder how we maintain our unique friendship since opendiary.com days till now. sigh, while he gets to take in the sights and sounds of the great America, I'll bury myself in books in China. WA-LAU.

Dear Bestie Jessica and I gorged ourselves myself silly at Big O. Jessica is amazed at the amount of meat treasure within the shimmery foil.

What lies beneath the chocolate cover?
D-U-R-I-A-N!

-faints with joy-

You can take the CHS people out of China but you can't take the China out of CHS people. -guffaws-

I wanna eat "Bing Tang Hu Lu"! =D

Nic, Huiwen and 1 had a hearty spread at Lao Bei Jing where little dragon buns were at my beck and call, Huiwen's sour&spicy soup came one bowl after another, Nic's custard buns appeared at our table constantly.

Maybe, CHS should have a food module instead of literature and history.
We REALLY can eat.

-shakes head- Nicholas is so rude, how can you stare at the little girl SO CLOSELY? NO MANNERS!

Beneath every smile, therein lies a story of struggle and pain.
Some coping well
Some not.
Some just choose to escape.

September 12.
My life will change.

Free man now

I'm a free man now.
080808.

I woke up this morning at 7am and thought of what to wear for work.
A few seconds later, I remembered that I'm no longer under employment of MediaCorp and my sole duty was to churn out a 10 000 words report by this Friday.
Thus, I went back to sleep.

My MediaCorp days would have been a nightmare if not for a certain Golden Jade Branch...

Gam Xia Golden Jade Branch! Thank you for always entertaining me when i go over to 972 to snooze and hearing me whine about stupid aunties and work. Wuhan, here we go!
My Lao Ban is Feng HuiShi She's like the Singapore version of Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw. Her shoes are Anna Sui, Clothes from CK and sorts, Bags from LV/Chanel. How can anyone actually wear Anna Sui and step all over??!?! -awed-

Donuts for the lovely people of Mediacorp =) Yuchih and I took half day leave specially to comb Bugis for donuts and junk food. We even argued with the Fillipino manager of J.Co because ..SHE REFUSED TO GIVE ME 4 SMALL BOXES WHEN WE BOUGHT 5 DOZENS. HER REASON IS THAT THE BOXES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE BUT SHE CAN GIVE ME 2 BOXES THOUGH. wah lau, 2 and 4, what's the whole monkey difference?!?

Huimei looks bewildered, she also very smart, take picture when the sun is at its highest point at 1pm plus and is GLARING DIRECTLY at us. Like my eyes not small enough liao, still must squint while attempting to smile. HAHA.

The 4 of us were the judges for Liyi laoshi's Radio Production classes. The Year 2s had to present their proposal for a new radio station, some had very creative ideas, some seemed too alike to certain established radio stations, some were..uhm... I hope none of the Yr 2s hated us for our guts. -crossed fingers-

After 5 months at Y.E.S.93.3, on my last day, I kissed Mediacorp goodbye with 5 bags in tow. I wonder, how on earth did I manage to collect so much rubbish (and gifts! ). I must have been a karang-guni girl in my past life.

It has been a chock full of events the past few days. Popped by jess place for her 19th celebration which makes me feel like an old hag as i can no longer say i am a "-teen" when i declare my age.Bummer.
Happy Birthday darling =) A couple of hours to go till 13 August but anyways! May all your dreams come true and that you'll have a blast being 19. May sweet things happen to you and that you'll always be smiling!

The Gift that cost me a bomb. Please do not under estimate the cost of this small handpainted box, Spotlight does a good job at sucking me dry.

Food have always been an enjoyment and i guess as time goes by, as our age goes up, we kind of upgrade our tastebuds too. Went out with Huiting, Jinli and Jess to fulfill my wish of eating at Kitchen Mogu-Mogu. The serving is small but adequate and seeing such happy food, lifts my spirits up instantly =)

And like I said, as times improved, our ROC places gets upgraded too. So off we went off to Dempsey for tea at P.S Cafe. The prices may be a little steep but i see no harm in indulging in such once-in-awhile extravagance. THE FOOD ROCKS TOO. =)

The mouth-watering mango and banana crumble. The mango pieces are HUUGGEE. totally worth my pennies.

Okay, i need to settle back into reality.
I have a 10k report waiting for me to get started.
And my cat wants dinner.

And it's exactly one month to the day i create a scene at Terminal 1.
-heaves a deeeeeeepppp sigh and attempts to die-

i am happy

I had a good day today.
Decided to take a day off (clear my off days since i got like 1 and 1/2 days of off to clear), wanted to be a relive secondary school days of standing broad jump and shuttle run but i guess my cough got in the way. Thus i decided to pay a visit to the newly opened Peranankan Museum with 2 of my favourite people...
Jess and MeiMei!

It was a timely visit as August 1 marks the 15 days of National Heritage Board's 15th Anniversary's celebration. Normal rates to the museums would cost us around $3 but from now till 15 August, it is FREE ENTRY TO ALL MUSEUMS after 3 pm! How cool! =D

Meimei trying her hand at "crafting" Peranankan ornaments, proving to the world that she can be good at arts and crafts too!

Jess also decides to try her hand at "crafting" cox she know she can do artistic wonders with her hands!

I was deep in gossipy conversation with 3rd Aunty and 6th Grand Aunty...

Introducing...3rd Aunty and 6th Grand Aunty =D

Jess is catching blessings of happiness, bliss and always having enough to eat and male admiration! -guffaws- the 3 of us joined in this act of catching A blessing. But we ended up "catching" more than one. We're true blue Singaporeans, ONE does not exist in our dictionaries.

Went back to school for my Wuhan trip briefing. I was not very happy to learn of the fact that other than being the guinea pigs for this trip, we don't get the same treatment of Terminal 3 and SIA. We're taking some dingy South Eastern China Airlines and our flight is at FREAKING 8am which means i have to reach Terminal 1 at 5.30am.

Goodness.

I was upset because i know some people won't be able to send us off and this means I don't get to meet some of my favourite people before i rot in Wuhan. I was pretty dejected and all at first. But i guess I have to self-convince myself because this is an unchanged fact. I am flying to Wuhan and my only wish is that i don't die there and i still keep in contact with everyone in sunshine Singapore.

Unhappy things aside, I had a fabulous time at our Y.E.S.93.3FM Celebratory Dinner. We're No.1 again! So we went for dinner at JUMBO Seafood Restaurant at Serangoon Gardens Country Club. It was an ardous journey to dinner as I was stuck in a jam at PIE not BKE(as corrected by james goh) and I puke IMMEDIATELY when i got off the $19.20 cab ride.

Happy Birthdays to the August Babies of Y.E.S.93.3, Weiping, Laoban and CK!
We surprised them with the delicious Rive Gauche cake which Ivy bought and instead of singing the traditional Happy Birthday song, we did it the Y.ES.93.3 way. We started singing our own station birthday song! =)

But the dinner was worth it! I've never eaten so much crabs in my entire life. I had like 5? I guess this explains why i am so much crap. haha. Chong Qing is an absolute entertainer and impersonator of Aaron Kwok, Fei Yu Qing. The room had a karaoke system and the entire station decided that we had enough Chinese songs that we sang don't know how many hokkien songs and super old songs by The Grasshoppers, Aaron Kwok, A*Mei, Sally Yeh.

Smile now!
I love Y.E.S.93.3 and I really am thankful for the hospitality that every single colleague/DJs and my Lao Ban shown me. It has been a great experience working for the top radio station in Singapore and i hope to put what i learnt to good use.

I am a happy girl today.
Simple things make me smile.
=)
